Instructors
Setting up students and teams in FOM happens in two stages: first you request an account, then you build and manage your roster once we've created it.
Stage 1 — Request your account
- First time user - Go to fom.engineering.txstate.edu and login with your TXST NetID
- Discipline: Select the option that most closely matches your field or intended use of the makerspace
- Supervisor: If your supervisor is not listed, select “Bobcat, Boko”
- No additional action is required in FOM
- Complete the Ingram Hall Makerspace Participation Agreement. This is required for everyone who uses the space (faculty, staff, and students) and must be renewed each academic year (September 1 – August 31)
- Courses - Course Usage Request form
Senior capstone - Senior Capstone Request form
A few notes on who fills out what:- Participant 2 is usually your unit's business office or administrator. They typically enter the accounting details — Fund, Cost Center, Internal Order, and Expiration Date
- Participant 3 is the account manager on the department account, usually the unit head (i.e., the director). If you're using a personal IDC account, you are the account manager
- You'll need to verify your email each time a form requires your signature
- All parties must sign before we can begin internal processing
We'll notify you once your account has been created in FOM. Processing time - 1 business day.
Stage 2 — Build your roster
- Log in to FOM
- After logging into FOM with your TXST credentials, you should be designated as a supervisor and see “Supervisor Home” on the left-hand menu. Navigate to this page to edit your course rosters.
- Find your course/capstone team. Your requested course number(s) and section(s) will appear under a "Research description name." Don't change this description. It's what your students see when reserving equipment.
- Have your students and instructional assistants log in to FOM once at fom.engineering.txstate.edu so they're in the system
- You need to be a supervisor, so students can select you while logging into FOM for the first time
- Send us your course roster, team members or any teaching assistants, and we'll add them to your course
Note: To ensure a smooth setup, please have students log into FOM as soon as possible, as we cannot add accounts until they have logged in at least once.
After the initial course roster is submitted, assigned account supervisors are responsible for adding any remaining students.
We'll notify you once all students have been added to your course account in FOM. Processing time is around 2 business days.
A few rules to keep in mind:
- Only enrolled students, instructors, and teaching assistants may be added to the account
- You can add or remove students at any point during the semester
- Please remove students who drop the course/team promptly, so they can't accidentally (or intentionally) incur charges on your account
