The Lighthouse of West Texas supports manufacturing career opportunities for individuals with visual impairments. Its current pneumatic press system is manually operated by blind workers, creating concerns related to both productivity and operator safety. Our team was tasked with improving the efficiency of this process while reducing risk to the operator. Our proposed solution is to automate the press operation while retaining operators in an end-of-process quality assurance role.
